I recently read this fantastic article from my buddy Nick Compton. In it, he discusses some of the do's and don'ts within professional cricket and how to avoid being dropped.
I thought it resonated so much with some of the challenges that we all face on a day to day basis within our own working environments.
We all feel the pressure at work and sometimes we let it get the better of us. Nick's recommendations to alleviate this are:
1. Score big runs
2. Be self-reliant
3. Respect your competition
4. Use analytics wisely
5. Develop a broad perspective
If you want to know how i am using sporting mentalities to help build and develop a winning culture within the corporate space, i'd love to chat.
It's a tough place to be - knowing you are good enough to excel but feeling so out of form, and feeling your chances of success are diminishing innings by innings, partly because of the unwelcome focus on you when the selectors' guillotine is hovering over your head. The only way to rid yourself of it is to score big runs.
